About this position

Northeastern University’s Shansky Lab is seeking a full-time postdoctoral researcher for NIH-funded behavioral neuroscience research on sex differences in cortical circuits that mediate defensive responding.

The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to an integrated rodent neuroscience program involving colony management, stereotaxic surgery, behavioral testing, fiber photometry protocols, and quantitative data analysis. The project also includes brain tissue processing for immunohistochemistry, RNAscope, and fluorescent microscopy, providing experience across systems neuroscience, behavioral analysis, and cellular or molecular characterization of neural circuits.

The researcher will work within the Shansky Lab at Northeastern University’s Boston campus. Depending on career goals, the lab offers mentoring in grant and paper writing, team management, and public speaking, supporting development as an independent behavioral neuroscience researcher.

The position is embedded in Northeastern’s R1 research environment, where interdisciplinary teams combine data, technology, and human-centered expertise to address complex scientific challenges.
