About this position
The High Power Density Electronics (HPDE) Center at The University of Texas at Dallas is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to investigate the characterization and modeling of gallium nitride (GaN) power devices.
The project focuses on evaluating high-voltage GaN and emerging ultra-wide-bandgap power devices in collaboration with industry partners. The researcher will develop models that predict device performance, lifetime, and reliability, contributing to advanced power-electronics technologies for data centers, solid-state transformers, and battery energy-storage systems.
Research activities include studying device physics, performing device testing and troubleshooting, verifying performance, developing device and power-converter models, and supporting the design and development of power-electronics hardware and circuits. The role also involves analyzing experimental data, documenting research findings, and presenting progress at group meetings and technical conferences.
The HPDE Center is expanding its capabilities in device development, advanced packaging, power-conversion hardware architectures, and a megawatt-scale hardware-in-the-loop testbed. The postdoctoral researcher will work in an on-site, in-person research environment with industry-connected projects and facilities supporting next-generation power electronics.
