Postdoctoral Research Opportunity at the Medical Research Council Centre for Medical Mycology (MRC CMM), University of Exeter, in collaboration with a five-centre consortium.

The project, “Flipping the switch on fungal pH signalling”, focuses on how chromatin regulation shapes transcriptional adaptation in Aspergillus fumigatus. The research investigates how environmental cues such as pH and host-associated stresses drive transcriptional reprogramming, and how these responses are coordinated at the chromatin level.

The successful applicant will work with Dr Sandra Catania and Prof Elaine Bignell, alongside a wider consortium including researchers from the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Research Center Borstel, University of Dundee, and SRUC. The broader grant summary highlights fungal adaptation, pH/salinity responses, and infectivity in human fungal pathogens.
