About this position
The University of Oxford is recruiting a full-time, fixed-term Postdoctoral Research Scientist for a three-year appointment in the Nuffield Department of Women’s and Reproductive Health, based at the Oxford Endometriosis CaRe Centre (EndoCaRe) at John Radcliffe Hospital.
The successful researcher will investigate new therapeutic targets for endometriosis and help translate human genetic discoveries into potential treatments, working with a multidisciplinary team and industrial partner Hirundo Biosciences. The project will develop and optimise macrophage–endometriosis co-culture systems using patient-derived organoids and primary immune cells to study inflammation, cellular interactions, and disease progression.
Responsibilities include cell culture, flow cytometry, single-cell analysis, data analysis and interpretation, scientific publications and presentations, research proposal development, collaboration, and guidance of less experienced researchers. Relevant interests include immunology, macrophage biology, reproductive health, organoid models, human co-culture systems, cellular analysis, and biomedical therapeutics.
Applicants should hold or be close to completing a PhD/DPhil in immunology or a related biomedical discipline and have practical experience with macrophage biology and in vitro experiments. Research management, publication, communication, teamwork, and graduate supervision experience are expected. Experience in epithelial tissue culture, advanced cellular analysis, human co-culture models, or bioinformatics is advantageous.
Applications require a CV and supporting statement. The closing date is 12:00 noon on 26 November 2026, with interviews expected on 17 December 2026. Occasional out-of-hours work may be needed for patient tissue collection.
