About this position
RECOVER – the Romanian Centre of Excellence for Biodiversity, Ecosystem Services and Society is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bucharest to contribute to an interdisciplinary consortium focused on biodiversity change, ecosystem services and nature’s contributions to people.
The successful candidate will join the University of Bucharest team and work across RECOVER work packages alongside partner teams in the national consortium coordinated by Babeș-Bolyai University. The position is centred on task T4.3, which supports environmental policy and co-produced restoration planning, with additional contributions to related tasks as needed.
The research project addresses the participatory, georeferenced assessment of ecosystem services provided by hydropower reservoirs in the Argeș River Basin. The postdoctoral researcher will help develop and run a PPGIS-based data collection platform, support the questionnaire design and promotion, identify biophysical indicators of ecosystem service supply, and analyse spatial patterns of distribution, access, use and valuation, including disparities between social groups and between ecosystem service supply and use.
The role also includes data management under the project plan, compliance with informed consent, GDPR and research ethics, and contributions to project deliverables, reporting, dissemination and capacity-building activities. The researcher is expected to present findings internationally and publish in a Web of Science journal with RECOVER affiliation.
The University of Bucharest provides the institutional setting for this part-time research appointment within a broader centre that integrates ecology, geography and the social sciences and humanities.
