About this position
The University of Bucharest is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for RECOVER – the Romanian Centre of Excellence for Biodiversity, Ecosystem Services and Society, a national consortium coordinated by Babeș-Bolyai University and carried out with partner teams across Romania. The selected researcher will join the University of Bucharest team and contribute to work packages focused on biodiversity change, ecosystem services, and conservation and restoration solutions developed with stakeholders.
This post is centered on the diversity of flora and plant communities, with particular attention to alien species and plants of conservation interest. The project combines ecology, geography, and social-science perspectives, and the researcher will support conservation, management, and ecological restoration activities within RECOVER. The work spans sampling, inventorying, monitoring, data management, ecological analysis, conservation assessment, and dissemination across the project’s scientific and training activities.
The successful candidate will work on plant communities in a range of environments, including urban and riparian habitats and urban–rural gradients. The role also involves analysing plant functional traits, contributing to ecosystem services research, and supporting nature-based solutions. In addition, the researcher will help maintain floristic and vegetation databases, contribute to ex situ conservation activities, and assist with the documentation and monitoring of experimental plants. The post is hosted by the University of Bucharest, with venue information indicating the “Dimitrie Brândză” Botanical Garden in Bucharest as the workplace environment.
