About this position
The University of Bucharest is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to join RECOVER – the Romanian Centre of Excellence for Biodiversity, Ecosystem Services and Society, a national consortium coordinated by Babeș-Bolyai University and focused on understanding biodiversity change, ecosystem services, and nature’s contributions to people. The successful candidate will work within the University of Bucharest team alongside partner teams across the consortium in an interdisciplinary research environment that brings together ecology, geography, and the social sciences and humanities.
The role is embedded in the project’s work packages and is centred on social innovation for urban green space management, with additional contributions to mapping nature’s contributions to people in urban and rural systems through citizen science. The researcher will help develop theoretical and methodological frameworks, design and conduct interviews, focus groups, participatory workshops, and other field-based activities, and work with mixed methods to analyse social, institutional, and spatial data.
The position is strongly oriented toward applied, collaborative research. The researcher will contribute to co-creation processes, living labs, citizen science, stakeholder partnerships, and knowledge transfer activities, while also preparing scientific outputs, policy-oriented materials, technical reports, conference presentations, and project deliverables. The work connects urban governance, environmental decision-making, participation, and the social-ecological dimensions of biodiversity and ecosystem management.
The role is hosted by the University of Bucharest within RECOVER, an interdisciplinary Centre of Excellence working on biodiversity, ecosystem services, and society.
