About this position

The International Institute of Molecular Mechanisms and Machines, Polish Academy of Sciences (IMol PAS) in Warsaw is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher for the newly established Goradia Lab. The position is part of the SONATA Bis-15 project funded by the National Science Centre (NCN), Poland, and focuses on the molecular mechanisms by which higher-order protein assemblies regulate transcriptional repression and chromatin organization in mammalian cells.

Led by Dr. Nishit Goradia, the project investigates how the tumour suppressor RAI2 induces polymerization of the transcriptional corepressor CtBP, reshaping nuclear assemblies, chromatin-associated regulatory networks, and gene expression. Building on a 2024 Nature Communications paper from the group, the work aims to establish a mechanistic framework for transcriptional corepressor regulation and its dysregulation in cancer.

The successful candidate will take a leading scientific role in the project, designing and executing experiments in mammalian cell biology, CRISPR/Cas9 genome engineering, molecular biology, protein biochemistry, quantitative proteomics, and functional genomics. A major part of the role involves establishing and optimizing chromatin profiling workflows such as ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, or related methods, as well as coordinating sample preparation, quality control, and integration of imaging, biochemical, proteomic, and genomic data. Sequencing-based analyses will be carried out with external facilities and collaborators, while the postdoc will drive experimental design and biological interpretation.

The lab offers a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment with access to state-of-the-art facilities in imaging, proteomics, genomics, and computational biology. The project is embedded in an international network, with collaborations including the EMBL Imaging Centre (Heidelberg), the Microscopy Core Facility at UKE Hamburg-Eppendorf, and the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), Leipzig.

Eligibility highlights include a PhD in a relevant life science discipline, a strong publication record, hands-on expertise in mammalian cell biology and molecular biology, and experience with CRISPR/Cas9, protein biochemistry, and at least one of chromatin biology, transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics, or functional genomics. Strong English communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential.

The contract is full-time for the duration of the project, with a competitive salary of approximately 9500 gross/month according to NCN rules, plus medical and social benefits. The expected start date is 1 January 2027 (or as soon as possible thereafter). Applications should be submitted online via the provided Google Form before 2026-11-30.

Funding details

Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
