About this position
This postdoctoral role in the Department of Chemistry at Prairie View A&M University centers on organic synthetic chemistry and the creation of new molecular materials. The researcher will join an externally funded project and contribute to the design and execution of chemical syntheses, laboratory experimentation, and data analysis in a collaborative research environment.
The position emphasizes hands-on work across organic and organometallic synthesis, sample characterization, and research documentation. The successful candidate will use a range of analytical and physical methods, including NMR, mass spectrometry, UV-Vis spectroscopy, electrochemistry, and related characterization techniques, to support the development of molecular structures and materials relevant to the project.
In addition to experimental research, the postdoctoral researcher will help prepare manuscripts, presentations, technical notes, and progress reports, and will contribute to mentoring students engaged in laboratory research. The role is based in a chemistry department with active research responsibilities and involves both independent work and close collaboration with faculty, research partners, and student researchers.

What's required
Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Organic Chemistry, Organic Synthesis Chemistry, or a closely related field is required. No prior experience is required. Applicants should have demonstrated experience in organic or organometallic synthetic chemistry and experience with spectroscopic and electrochemical characterization techniques. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research laboratory environment. Preferred qualifications include experience with molecular electronic materials, familiarity with EPR spectroscopy, radical chemistry, or main-group element functionalization, experience with thin-film preparation and solid-state characterization methods, and prior mentoring or supervising of undergraduate or graduate researchers.
