About this position
The University of Chicago’s Ovarian Cancer Laboratory is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Section of Gynecologic Oncology, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Biological Sciences Division. The research will investigate methyltransferase biology in ovarian cancer, focusing on how metabolic and epigenetic reprogramming in cancer-associated fibroblasts and tumor cells drives immune suppression and metastasis.
The project combines cancer biology, tumor microenvironment research, immunology, epigenetics, cellular metabolism, and translational therapeutics. The postdoctoral researcher will define stromal–tumor–immune interactions that shape ovarian cancer progression and identify therapeutic vulnerabilities with clinical potential. Methods include preclinical mouse tumor models, organoids, spatial and single-cell multi-omics, flow cytometry, metabolic profiling, and cellular and molecular biology assays.
The laboratory, led by Dr. Ernst Lengyel, conducts collaborative bench-to-bedside research aimed at improving outcomes for women with ovarian cancer. Researchers are supported in developing independent ideas, mentoring junior trainees, and preparing for careers in academia, biotechnology, or industry.
Applicants should have a PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, cancer biology, immunology, or a related field; 3–4 years of hands-on experience with in vivo tumor models; peer-reviewed publications; strong communication skills; and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Relevant experience in epigenetics, cellular metabolism, tumor microenvironment biology, tumor modeling, multi-omics, or drug development is advantageous.
This is a full-time, fixed-term, benefits-eligible position in Chicago, Illinois. Compensation is $63,480–$77,076 per year, depending on experience, following the NIH NRSA Stipend Scale. The application deadline is November 28, 2026. Applicants should email a CV, research-goals statement, and contact details for two references to [email protected].
