About this position

Research Assistant (PhD Student) position at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Faculty of Chemistry, in the Department of Biological Chemistry and Bioimaging.

The post is part of the PACMAN project, “Personalized antibody-drug conjugates activated by matrix metalloproteinases for solid tumors,” led by Marcin Poręba (Professor of WUST). The project aims to develop a new generation of antibody-drug conjugates that do not rely on internalization and are instead selectively activated in the extracellular tumor microenvironment by matrix metalloproteinases such as MMP-2, MMP-9, and MMP-14.

The successful candidate will work on the synthesis of antibody-drug and antibody-fluorophore conjugates with different linker types, as well as the physicochemical characterization of the resulting compounds. The role is research-intensive and sits within a translational program aiming toward preclinical validation and, longer term, IND-level documentation and first-in-human progression.

This is a PhD-level research opening (First Stage Researcher, R1) with a full-time contract at 7/8 FTE. The appointment is initially for 12 months, with the possibility of extension for another 18 months after positive evaluation, for a total of 30 months. The advertised salary is PLN 5,393 gross plus additional thirteenth salary.
