About this position
The University of British Columbia’s Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is seeking a Research Associate to join the Cullis Laboratory at the UBC Vancouver campus. The research program focuses on lipid nanoparticles and their use in RNA therapeutics, drug delivery, nanomedicine, and innovative therapeutic development.
The Research Associate will formulate lipid nanoparticles and optimize them for in vitro and in vivo systems. The work will include assay development, physicochemical characterization using biophysical and analytical techniques, and biological evaluation of lipid nanoparticles. The appointee will work closely with a multidisciplinary sepsis research team led by Jim Russell, participating in regular meetings, developing work plans, conducting experiments, and communicating results.
Additional responsibilities include training junior laboratory members and students, preparing manuscripts and supporting grant proposals, attending scientific meetings and seminars, and initiating and directing collaborations with other laboratories. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to an active, collaborative research environment spanning biochemistry, molecular biology, nanomedicine, therapeutic delivery, and sepsis research.
