About this position
Research Associate opportunity at McGill University in the Ghoshal Lab within the Department of Civil Engineering. The project focuses on the characterization of nanomaterials and how they translocate and transform in plant tissues after foliar application, with an emphasis on evaluating the efficacy of nanomaterials against current industry-relevant treatments.
The successful candidate will contribute to laboratory research on nanofertilizers in model crop plants and their commercial equivalents, and will help generate the data and publications that come from this work. A key part of the role is preparing and finalizing journal articles, as well as producing reports and presentations for project meetings.
The position also involves analytical work on nano- and micro-scale imaging and chemical speciation, including use of time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry, Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The Research Associate will also analyze X-ray absorption data for nanofertilizers in plants and support broader lab research activities.
In addition to conducting research, the appointee will help train students in nanoparticle analysis and in the use of the laboratory’s analytical techniques. The appointment is in the Macdonald Engineering Building at McGill University, with supervision by Prof. Ghoshal.
