About this position
Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is seeking a Research Fellow for applied research at the Schaeffler Hub for Advanced Research at NTU (SHARE), a collaborative research center between NTU and Schaeffler Group. SHARE at NTU focuses on applied research with pathways for transferring research outcomes into industry, particularly in Robotics and Industry 4.0.
The project centers on haptic dual-arm manipulation. The researcher will develop haptic SLAM algorithms and manipulation-potential models using Riemannian-geometric methods and adaptive ODE-based equilibrium computation. The work also includes DMP-based motion planning, impedance-control strategies and the evaluation of methods in Drake or equivalent robotics simulation software.
Research activities will progress from algorithm development to physical robotic experimentation. The researcher will implement and validate methods on Kinova dual-arm robotic systems, including manipulation experiments such as book insertion. Haption haptic devices will be used for data acquisition and teleoperation. The role also involves analyzing experimental results, documenting research methods and procedures, and preparing technical reports and research publications.
The successful researcher will work in an interdisciplinary applied-research environment connecting NTU researchers with Schaeffler’s global research network and industrial technology-development goals.
