Postdoctoral Researcher (Young Doctor) in Quantum Computing and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Warsaw’s MAB QLAB Centre, Group 4. This funded full-time research position is part of the Center for Hybrid Quantum-Classical Information Technologies – QLAB, a joint undertaking with Sorbonne Université. The post is based at the University of Warsaw in Warsaw, Poland, within the research group focused on quantum computing and artificial intelligence, and it carries no teaching obligations. The appointment is for up to 36 months, aligned with the project period ending 31.12.2029, with a possible extension depending on project eligibility and agreement. The successful candidate will work under the scientific supervision of the Group Leader in Group 4 and contribute to research on hybrid quantum–classical algorithms and learning architectures. The core themes include quantum reservoir computing, quantum machine learning, quantum-enhanced computational models, generative language models, and autonomous quantum agents. The project places particular emphasis on quantum dynamics, spectral properties, correlations, memory effects, trainability, generalization, noise robustness, computational scaling, and resource requirements in realistic NISQ and early fault-tolerant quantum processors. The position is funded under the International Research Agendas (MAB) scheme, Measure 2.1 of the European Funds for a Modern Economy 2021–2027 Programme (FENG), with the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) as the intermediate body. The gross salary is 12,500–13,500 PLN per month, and the offer includes a start-up package for travel, conferences, and computational resources, plus mobility opportunities with QLAB partners. Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent in physics, computer science, mathematics, or a related field, and have up to 5 years of research and development experience since the doctorate was awarded. A strong background in quantum information, quantum computing, statistical physics, many-body physics, machine learning, or numerical physics/quantum algorithms is expected. Scientific programming and numerical modelling skills are required, and experience with quantum neural networks, variational algorithms, phase transitions, tensor networks, reinforcement learning, or noisy quantum devices will strengthen the application. Fluency in English at B2 level or higher is required. Candidates must also satisfy the project’s “young doctor” condition and cannot hold another full-time employment contract during the appointment; the University of Warsaw must be their primary place of work. The selection process includes formal evaluation, substantive assessment by the recruitment committee, an interview with shortlisted candidates, final scoring against published criteria, and the publication of the result. Applications must be sent by email to [email protected] with the subject line “QLAB YOUNG POSTDOC G4/02 - <surname>” and must include the requested forms, a CV with research outputs, a cover letter describing motivation and research vision, up to three representative publications, and proof of doctorate date. The deadline is 18 November 2026 at 23:59 (Warsaw time).
