PhD Scholarship in Disability Employment, Autism, and Neurodiversity Research at Flinders University

Flinders University is advertising a PhD scholarship within the Talent Access Partnerships (TAP) initiative, a South Australian program based in Adelaide focused on creating employment opportunities for people with disability, with particular attention to autistic jobseekers . The project examines how employer confidence , job customisation , and industry-cluster networks contribute to sustainable employment outcomes. The thesis is by publication and will combine a systematic review , longitudinal quantitative research , qualitative fieldwork , and a policy-relevant synthesis model. The successful candidate will be embedded in HAVIClab and the Flinders Autism Research Initiative , joining a research environment with strengths in autism , neurodiversity-inclusive design , and employment research . Supervision is provided by Nathan Caruana (Primary Supervisor) and Dr Jung Yoon (Project Lead and Co-supervisor). Applicants should have Honours (1st or 2A) or a Masters with a research component in psychology, HR/business, social sciences, or disability studies. Interest in disability/autism employment, organisational change, or neurodiversity research is expected. Quantitative and/or qualitative skills are welcome, and mixed-methods training will be provided. Strong writing is important for the thesis-by-publication format, and retail/hospitality experience is highly regarded. The scholarship offers a $36,061 indexed stipend , 3 years full-time support, funded data collection, a dedicated workspace, and HDR conference support. Autistic and neurodivergent applicants, and those with lived experience of disability, are warmly encouraged to apply. How to apply: send your CV, cover letter, writing samples, and references to [email protected] and [email protected] . The deadline is 30 November 2026 , and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Full details are available via the opportunity link.
