About this position
Bienvenüe+ is an international postdoctoral fellowship programme coordinated by Région Bretagne and co-funded through Horizon Europe MSCA-COFUND, the Brittany regional council, and 20 host institutions in Brittany, France.
The programme offers 25 fellowships in the upcoming cohort, with projects carried out for 24 months in Breton laboratories. It is designed for highly qualified researchers at postdoctoral level and supports open, transparent, merit-based recruitment. The fellowships are hosted by eligible research units located in Brittany, including major institutions such as CNRS, Ifremer, Inria, INSA Rennes, Université de Rennes, Université de Bretagne-Occidentale, Université Bretagne Sud, and others.
Applications are welcome from a very broad range of disciplines. The programme follows a thematic, not disciplinary, approach: any research field may be funded if the project contributes to one of the Breton RIS3 strategic innovation areas, including maritime economy, secure and responsible digital economy, health and welfare, food economy, economics of industry, or transversal transitions. Social sciences-oriented projects are especially encouraged.
Funding is attractive and combines a net monthly remuneration of 2,711 EUR, a mobility allowance of 200 EUR gross per month, a family allowance of up to 299 EUR, and a research, networking and training contribution of 1,000 EUR per month. Fellows also receive full French social security coverage, including parental and sick leave, pension contributions, unemployment benefits at the end of the contract, and at least 25 vacation days per year.
The programme also provides research-oriented and transferable-skills training, support for innovation, opportunities for secondments and placements, and practical relocation assistance for fellows moving to Brittany.
Eligibility requires a PhD and compliance with the MSCA mobility rule: applicants must not have spent more than 12 months in France during the three years before the deadline. A key requirement is that applicants must identify a Breton supervisor in advance; applicants can use their own networks or consult expressions of interest on the programme website.
The call opens on 1 December 2026 and closes on 16 February 2027 at 12:00 (Europe/Paris). Results are expected to be published on 2 July 2027, and fellowships are scheduled to start between September 2027 and January 2028.
