About this position
This doctoral scholarship supports PhD research in transplantation within the natural sciences, with projects focused on organ or tissue transplants and related themes such as immunology, surgery, and clinical transplant medicine.
The award is offered by the Société Francophone de Transplantation (SFT), a scientific society active in France and other French-speaking countries. The funds are paid to the student’s university, which uses them through a fixed-term contract arrangement to support the PhD salary.
The scheme is aimed at doctoral researchers working in a transplant research environment and is assessed by a panel with expertise spanning transplant medicine and closely related clinical and biomedical disciplines.
The scholarship is intended to support the first year of PhD study in this area.
Funding details
Up to €42,000 to fund the first year of PhD studies; funds are paid to the university, which employs the student on a fixed-term contract and uses the money to pay the salary.
What's required
Applicants must be studying for a PhD in the natural sciences (thèse de sciences) and have a project focused on organ or tissue transplantation research, such as immunology, surgery, or clinical transplant medicine. Applicants must be SFT members with membership fees paid on time. The university must offer a fixed-term contract so the funding can be paid out. All nationalities may apply. In the first year of the PhD, the laboratory must provide written confirmation that it will cover the remaining three years; applicants already in their second or third year must provide evidence that funding for the rest of the programme has already been secured. The scholarship cannot be combined with any other scholarship.
How to apply
Send the application by post to the SFT Secretariat. The call opens around March or April each year and applications are assessed by a panel of experts. The scholarship is awarded at the SFT Annual Congress.
