About this position
PhD opportunity at the University of Dundee in proteomics, protein interaction networks, mass spectrometry, machine learning, and bioinformatics.
This EASTBIO project, hosted in the Faculty of Life Sciences, is titled The proteome social network: characterizing cellular protein interaction networks using advanced mass spectrometry and machine learning. Supervisors listed are Dr T Ly and Dr James Abbott.
The project aims to develop a rapid and robust pipeline to characterize protein interaction networks in cells using native protein chromatography, LC-MS/MS-based proteomics, deep learning-driven structural modelling, and Orbitrap Astral technology. The second part of the PhD applies the method to study dynamic protein interaction changes during cell cycle entry and cellular senescence, with relevance to tissue renewal, aging, and disease such as cancer.
Funding: This is a 4-year funded PhD studentship supported by the EastBio BBSRC Doctoral Landscape Award. It includes a mandatory training programme and a 3-month placement. Funding covers a stipend at UKRI standard rate and UK tuition fees; the University of Dundee covers the Home-International fee difference.
Eligibility: Open to UK and international students. The post is especially relevant for applicants with interests in proteomics, big data analysis, and cell cycle biology.
Application: Please refer to the University of Dundee programme page for the BBSRC EASTBIO Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) Studentship and follow the university application route.
