A four-year PhD position is available in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Basel, supervised by Professor Jonathan De Roo. The research focuses on the design and synthesis of oxo clusters as building blocks for metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), with applications in environmental remediation such as CO2 capture and toxic metal absorption. The project emphasizes controlling the oxo clusters before MOF assembly and investigating the stability of MOFs under real-world conditions.

This versatile project will provide training in inorganic synthesis, materials characterization, and the practical application of oxo clusters and MOFs. The research group operates primarily in English, fostering an international and collaborative environment. Candidates should have completed both bachelor's and master's degrees in chemistry, or hold a master's in nanoscience or chemical engineering with a strong chemistry component. Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.
