About this position

Aarhus University PhD position: NCREDIBLE

The Center for Quantitative Genetics and Genomics at Aarhus University is offering a PhD project entitled Better Nitrogen efficiency by improving Cow Resilience, Eating Dynamics, Breeding and Lifetime Efficiency (NCREDIBLE). The project addresses how dairy cattle can contribute to more sustainable dairy production through improved biological efficiency and resilience.

The research brings together quantitative genetics, dairy cattle breeding, animal resilience, eating dynamics and lifetime efficiency. The PhD researcher will work with large-scale data to investigate traits and breeding strategies that can improve nitrogen efficiency while supporting robust, productive and resilient cows.

NCREDIBLE is a collaborative project involving VikingGenetics, Arla Foods, the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences at Aarhus University and INRAE. This partnership provides a research environment connecting academic expertise in quantitative genetics and animal science with practical dairy-breeding and food-sector applications.

The opportunity is suited to a researcher interested in dairy cattle, animal breeding, quantitative genetics, resilience and data-driven approaches to sustainable livestock production.
