This PhD opening is linked to the Co-creating Professional Development (CoDev) project, which focuses on strengthening inclusive education in Norwegian kindergartens and/or schools. The successful candidate will conduct an article-based PhD and carry out both theoretical and mainly qualitative empirical research. The advertised research themes include professionals’ approaches to inclusive education, including their knowledge, skills, and attitudes, as well as how different approaches to professional development can affect inclusive education and the sustainability of professional development.
Eligibility highlights: applicants must normally hold a master’s degree or equivalent in education or special needs education, meet the faculty’s PhD admission requirements, and demonstrate fluent oral and written communication skills in English and Norwegian (or another Scandinavian language). Relevant practice-oriented research experience or experience from special needs education in Norwegian kindergartens/schools is valued.

What's required
Applicants must meet admission requirements for the Faculty of Educational Sciences PhD program. This normally includes a master’s degree or equivalent in education or special needs education, a master’s degree of 120 ECTS with at least grade B and a thesis of at least 30 ECTS graded B or better, a bachelor’s degree with at least grade C, or for 5-year studies an average grade of C or better for the first three years and B or better for the last two years, with the master’s thesis graded B or better. Applicants must have fluent oral and written English and Norwegian or another Scandinavian language. Previous experience with practice-oriented research and/or relevant experience from special needs education in Norwegian kindergartens or schools is preferred, along with strong academic curiosity, independence, collaboration skills, structure, goal orientation, and motivation to improve inclusive practices.
