About this position
Postdoctoral research in experimental condensed matter physics at ISTA. The Polshyn Group at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria is recruiting a postdoc to study correlated electrons in van der Waals systems, with a particular emphasis on topological states and superconductivity in graphene moiré heterostructures.
The project is rooted in the group’s broader research on emergent electronic phenomena in 2D materials. The successful candidate will help design and carry out experiments on strongly correlated electronic phases in moiré graphene devices and will use ISTA nanofabrication facilities to build new van der Waals heterostructures.
Two experimental directions are highlighted: low-temperature electronic transport measurements or low-temperature scanning probe microscopy on moiré van der Waals devices. The advert specifically seeks candidates with strong hands-on expertise in one of these techniques.
The position is based at ISTA in Klosterneuburg near Vienna and is connected to an internationally oriented, multidisciplinary research environment in the physical sciences. The group description points to an active research programme in 2D materials and moiré systems, including work supported by an ERC Starting Grant.
