The Centre for Climate and Energy Transformation (CET) at the University of Bergen is offering a three-year postdoctoral research fellow position. CET is an interdisciplinary research centre dedicated to producing actionable knowledge for deep, rapid, and sustainable societal transformation to address the climate challenge. The centre is based at the Faculty of Social Sciences and collaborates with scientists from a variety of disciplines, focusing on how climate change and transformations are experienced, communicated, and acted upon by individuals, communities, policymakers, and organisations.

The position is thematically open within CET’s research areas, allowing the successful candidate to develop their own research project in alignment with the centre’s profile. Applicants are required to submit a 4-5 page research statement outlining their interests and how these fit with CET’s mission. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to contribute to the dynamic and productive academic environment at CET, engaging with interdisciplinary teams and supporting the centre’s research goals.

Applicants must hold a PhD (or equivalent) in a social science or other discipline relevant to CET’s research. If the PhD has not yet been awarded, candidates must have submitted their doctoral thesis for assessment prior to the application deadline, with employment conditional on the degree being awarded. A strong publication record and evidence of research development in relevant thematic areas are required. Candidates should demonstrate independence, structured work habits, and the ability to collaborate effectively. Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential.

The position offers a gross annual salary of NOK 657,000, with potential increases for particularly well-qualified applicants. Additional benefits include enrolment in the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund and access to welfare benefits. The appointment is fixed-term for three years, with the primary objective of qualifying the appointee for top academic positions. Upon appointment, a project proposal and work schedule must be submitted, and the project must be completed within the employment period.
