About this position

University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher / PostDoc (f/m/d) for the research group of Prof. Dr. Ricarda Richter-Dennerlein in the Department of Molecular Biology.

The project focuses on the function and biogenesis of ribosomes in human mitochondria, with a strong emphasis on mitochondrial biology, gene expression, ribosome biogenesis, and related mechanisms of human disease. The group studies how the human mitochondrial ribosome is assembled and regulated, the roles of associated factors, and the quality-control steps that maintain functional ribosomes.

The work combines advanced biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, iPSC culture, cell differentiation, mass spectrometry, and structural biology in a collaborative Göttingen campus environment. The post is embedded in a highly international and research-intensive setting at the University Medical Center Göttingen, with access to local core facilities and collaborators.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a PhD in life sciences such as molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline. Experience with stem cells/iPSC culture is important, and analysis of large data sets (transcriptome/proteome) is advantageous. Fluent English is required. The group is looking for a motivated scientist who can work independently and in a team.

Funding and terms: fixed-term full-time position for 2 years, with the possibility of extension, paid according to TV-L 13.

How to apply: submit a single PDF containing a motivation statement, CV, copies of degree certificates, and the names/contact details of at least two references. Applications should be submitted through the recruiting portal linked in the post. Informal questions can be directed to Ricarda Richter-Dennerlein at [email protected].
