About this position
Delft University of Technology is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to investigate the physical drivers of morphological and ecological recovery in offshore sand extraction pits in the North Sea.
The project uses a unique multi-year field dataset to examine how waves, currents and sediment transport shape seabed evolution in and around an offshore extraction pit. The research will connect physical coastal and marine processes with ecological recovery, contributing to improved understanding of how disturbed offshore environments change over time.
The postdoctoral researcher will work closely with ecologists and other researchers in a multidisciplinary consortium focused on questions relevant to the sustainable management of the North Sea. The project provides an opportunity to conduct field-data-based research at the intersection of civil engineering, coastal morphodynamics, sediment dynamics, marine environmental science and ecology.
