About this position
University of Central Florida (CREOL, College of Optics and Photonics) is advertising a Postdoctoral Scholar in Experimental Optics in Orlando, Florida, United States.
The position is with the Semiconductor Diode Laser Group and focuses on experimental optics, photonics, semiconductor diode lasers, and laser arrays. Research topics include external-cavity coupling, phase locking, coherent beam combining, synchronization, spatial and temporal coherence, and collective dynamics in coupled semiconductor laser systems. The work combines advanced optical experiments with theoretical and computational modeling of nonlinear laser dynamics.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Optics/Photonics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field, plus strong hands-on experience with free-space optics, beam propagation, optical alignment, troubleshooting, and semiconductor laser systems. Experience with optical diagnostics, data acquisition, and analysis is desirable. Familiarity with nonlinear dynamics and modeling of diode lasers is preferred.
This is a Contract & Grants funded position. The appointment is anticipated for at least two years and may extend up to four years depending on performance and funding availability. The post notes that applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer; H-1B sponsorship is not available, and U.S. citizenship or permanent residency may be required because of funding restrictions.
To apply, submit the application electronically through UCF Jobs and upload a CV plus a brief statement of research interests and relevant experimental experience. The posting does not list a deadline.
