About this position
Observatoire B2V des Mémoires offers a doctoral grant to support one early-career researcher each year on a PhD project focused broadly on memory. The award is designed to fund doctoral research carried out in a research laboratory in France, with the money paid to the host laboratory rather than directly to the student.
The scholarship supports interdisciplinary doctoral work on memory in its many forms, including individual, collective, animal and digital memory. The advert explicitly encourages projects that connect memory research with areas such as anthropology, history, psychology, philosophy, sociology, neuroscience, neurology, engineering, sports science, computer science and robotics. It is therefore intended for candidates whose thesis sits at the intersection of memory studies and another discipline.
This is a competitive, single-award scheme aimed at students who are preparing to start a PhD rather than those already enrolled. The grant is tied to a French research environment, so the student will undertake the doctorate within a laboratory in France and develop the thesis with that academic setting as the base for the research.
The scholarship is framed as a memory-focused doctoral opportunity with an interdisciplinary and research-laboratory setting in France.
