Applicants should have a PhD in structural biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, or a related field, with strong practical experience in cryo-EM and molecular biology. Previous experience in mitochondrial biology is desirable. Candidates must demonstrate excellent knowledge of modern biological and structural approaches, a promising publication record, rigorous scientific mindset, good documentation and organizational skills, and proficiency in English. The ability to work independently and collaboratively is essential. Completion of the doctoral degree within the last three years is advantageous, but earlier completion may be accepted for special reasons. Eligibility requires a PhD or equivalent foreign degree, fulfilled by the time of employment decision.
The position offers either a monthly salary or a tax-free scholarship for up to two years, paid out on a six months basis. Eligible candidates may be offered a postdoctoral scholarship, which promotes internationalization and research qualification after a doctorate. Karolinska Institutet provides access to state-of-the-art infrastructure, including facilities for cryo-EM, advanced microscopy, flow cytometry, next-generation sequencing, and transgenic technologies.
