The University of Jyväskylä's Department of Physics is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join the Finnish team in the ALICE experiment, starting September 1, 2026. This 1+2 year position is embedded within the Center of Excellence in Quark Matter (CoE), a vibrant international community recognized by the Finnish Research Council and comprising around 35 researchers across theoretical and experimental teams. The CoE offers a unique environment for research in quantum chromodynamics (QCD) and relativistic heavy-ion physics, combining both experimental and theoretical approaches.

The successful candidate will perform jet analysis with Run 3 data collected by ALICE and contribute to the ALICE forward calorimeter (FoCal) upgrade. Prior experience with data analysis in large experimental collaborations, instrumentation, electronics, and test-beam measurements is highly valued. The position requires a completed PhD degree in a relevant field before the starting date, and all qualification requirements and language skills are governed by University of Jyväskylä regulations. A six-month trial period applies at the start of employment.

Experimental research is conducted in the Accelerator Laboratory, Nanoscience Center, and at international facilities such as CERN and FAIR.
